Join us in New York City for 'Taking All They Can,' a critical exploration of the massive boom in generative AI and data center expansion. This event examines how the relentless drive for economic growth is impacting our land, derailing clean energy transitions, and fueling job insecurity for workers. By moving beyond the 'growth at all costs' mentality, the program seeks to offer radical solutions to the current affordability and climate crises.
Through a combination of on-the-ground stories of opposition and convivial analysis of AI technology, participants will explore eco-socialist alternatives. The session will highlight tangible policies—such as a public job guarantee and universal care income—that prioritize ecological balance and collective well-being over corporate extraction.
The evening begins with presentations on the data center boom and post-growth theory, followed by small-group breakout discussions. These facilitated conversations are designed to help attendees apply these frameworks to their own local campaigns and organize solidarity across NYC and beyond.
